Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Sep 23
The 2021 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet with flint and touches of undergrowth complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is well-balanced with an enticing snappiness and well-judged acidity, though without quite the complexity of Droin's top-performing Premier Crus on the finish. A solid Vaudésir rather than one with bells and whistles.

Chablis

Chablis, the northernmost Burgundy region, is famed for its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay wines. Unlike rich, oaky Chardonnays, Chablis wines, influenced by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils, feature vibrant acidity and flavours of green apple, citrus, and flint. Ideal with seafood, especially oysters, Chablis wines come in four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Esteemed producers like Domaine William Fèvre, François Raveneau, and Vincent Dauvissat are known for their classic, terroir-expressive wines.
